Tacoma Comedy Club: Grand Opening

Tacoma, WA, October 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Something smells funny in Tacoma, WA. It’s the South Sound's newest comedy club. Tacoma Comedy Club, located at 6th and Tacoma Ave.

It is run by veteran local comedians Adam Norwest and Riggs. The two funny men have been working on opening a club in Tacoma for the past couple of years. After they looked into buying a struggling bar/comedy club in Tacoma, they realized it wasn't the right venue for the type of club and atmosphere they wanted. So they decided against it, and the two set their sites on a larger and nicer venue.

“The new venue holds 1/3 more people but maintains a cozy and intimate atmosphere. It has a full service kitchen and is, overall, better suited for comedy,” says Riggs, a professional comedian for six years. “His business partner, Adam Norwest, states, “Tacoma hasn’t had a great comedy club for some time, either for watching or performing.”

Tacoma Comedy Club will occupy the corner space next to Malarkey's Pool Hall. Malarkey's will provide a full menu and drinks. The comedy crowd will enter through Malarkey's and enter into Tacoma Comedy Club's own separate, designated remodeled space that seats over 150 people. This includes a VIP section that can be reserved for special occasions.

Riggs promises, “We are going to bring in talent from all over the country as well as the Northwest’s best performers. There are so many great comics that never make it to Tacoma; we are going to change that.” Norwest adds, “Our grand opening comic, Collin Moulton, is one of our all time favorite comics from anywhere. He has a Showtime special coming out this year. We are super excited to have him come to Tacoma, a place he hasn’t been able to perform in for many years.”

The soft opening is October 15th and 16th. “We are excited to get the club open and show Tacoma and the South Sound what we’ve done to the place and what we have to offer. Our first show features co-headliners. We figured we should have two headliners to kick things off,” says Norwest.

The two co-headliners will be comedians-turned-movie stars: Sean Anderson and Kane Holloway. The two are currently acting in the feature length comedy being filmed in downtown Tacoma, Jesus 4 Less.

The club is available for private shows and parties as well. There is also a big Halloween show planned with comedian-hypnotist Don Barnhardt, with costume contests and prizes.

Shows are Fridays at 8pm, and Saturdays at 8pm with a second show at 10:30pm. (That is -- one show Friday, two shows Saturday.) A weekly open mic for aspiring comedians and professionals alike will start on Wednesday, November 3rd, at 8pm.

Weekend ticket prices are $12 (plus tax when you buy them in person at Malarkey's). If you purchase tickets online at www.tacomacomedyclub.com, taxes are included in the $12.

Tickets for the first two shows are already going fast. You may also purchase tickets at the door before the show if they are available. Reservations are recommended. If you have any questions, contact the club directly at 253-282-7203 or e-mail them at info@tacomacomedyclub.com
