Gardens of Eden Enterprises, which has been in existence since 2000, traces its roots back to 1980, when Bob Hedin, the owner, started to offer landscape maintenance services to his neighbors after school. He was inspired by the order of a well-mown lawn, a crisply edged bed, and the look of a carefully shaped hedge. Taking great pride in his work, Bob soon found that he was very busy caring for many properties.
After earning a degree in business from St. Joseph's University, Bob found himself having both a management and a hands-on role working for an area landscaper. His interest in plants, rather than just maintaining landscapes, was sparked by countless hours spent maintaining the grounds at Scott Arboretum in Swarthmore, one of his employer's accounts. Working around such an exceptional collection of plants led to a comprehensive personal study of horticulture, including classes offered by Longwood Gardens and Scott Arboretum. In addition, any spare time available was spent experimenting with unfamiliar plants in his own extensive garden.
Bob gradually became frustrated with working for someone else, feeling that quality was often compromised. Additionally, there was little opportunity to use his creativity or technical knowledge of plants. This passion for plants finally led Bob to form his own enterprise in 2000, combining his considerable experience in grounds maintenance, with his desire to care for and create with plants. Since the beginning, we have been a fully insured business with a strict adherence to the highest professional standards.
At Gardens of Eden Enterprises, their goal is to use their skills, knowledge, and expertise to the benefit of area homeowners by improving and maintaining their properties to the highest standards. While they do offer services 'on demand' at a client's discretion, they specialize in providing timely care throughout the year for exceptional landscapes. This is possible because Bob is personally on site regularly to identify and correct any problems as they occur, concurrent with giving seasonally appropriate care to all ornamental plantings.
