In the Presence of Iwo Jima Heroes, "Truman and Macarthur" is Honored

East Northport, NY, October 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- At its gala annual banquet on October 2, 2010 at the Wyndham Hotel in Pittsburgh, the Military Writers Society of America presented its 2010 Silver Star Award in the History category to author, Donald J. Farinacci, for his original work of non-fiction, "Truman and MacArthur, Adversaries for a Common Cause" (Merriam Press; merriam-press.com.) In keeping with the military history theme, a momentus ceremony was conducted honoring two hero-authors of the Battle of Iwo Jima, eighty-eight year old, Tom McGraham, and eighty-six year old, Jerry Yellin, who each addressed the banquet's assembled guests in moving fashion concerning their World War II experiences in the Pacific, at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Mr. Yellin also announced his nation-wide campaign, backed by actor/director, Clint Eastwood, to combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in America's war veterans. In addition, Mr. McGraham was recognized for his memoir, "The Road to Iwo Jima" and Mr. Yellin for his, "Of War and Weddings."
