London, United Kingdom, October 16, 2010 --(PR.com
)-- Robert Harder (David Byrne, Babyshambles, Soho Dolls) produced the new record with the aim of maintaining the aggression of their live shows whilst still demonstrating the bands ability to write catchy tracks.
With ‘Lovely Bones’/’Joy’ the band have shifted slightly from the combination of raw riffs and demonic vocals from the critically-acclaimed debut single ‘Underground’ into a more hard, hypnotic, psychedelic-blues rock sound that has already caused rave reviews and comparisons to such bands as The Dead Weather.
Commenting on the band and this release, The Playground Records’ Warren Morris says:
"After initially discovering and working with The Volitains on their previous single ‘Underground’ and seeing the reaction from blogs and press, I felt this band really deserved to move up the ladder quickly so we immediately signed them to our label and got them in the studio with Robert Harder. Candice has raw talent with her vocals creating depth, passion and range unrivalled by many of her contemporaries. Her demonic razor sharp fierceness alongside the dirty garage-rock-blues of the band gives them a competitive edge. These guys are the real deal."
The band has scheduled upcoming gigs in London, Manchester and the rest of the UK throughout the winter to promote the release.
