RICS Awards for The Roundhouse

Derby, United Kingdom, October 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In the past year, Derby College and its construction partners have received several awards in recognition of the ambitious restoration of The Roundhouse into the centre piece of the £48 million vocational campus.

The icing on the cake for the year was the announcement last week by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors who declared The Roundhouse as Project of the Year at its 2010 awards ceremony in London.

Previous winners of this prestigious award have been St Paul’s Cathedral trecentenary project, St Pancreas Station and Kew Palace so the Roundhouse joins an impressive list of buildings applauded by national and international industry experts.

Derby College Principal David Croll said: “We are delighted and extremely proud that the restoration of The Roundhouse has been recognised with this prestigious award. It caps a very exciting month for us having had the official opening by The Princess Royal earlier this month.

“The Roundhouse continues to go from strength to strength as a centre of vocational training excellence and the inspiring environment is greatly contributing to raising standards to ensure our learners go into the workplace as skilled, rounded individuals who can contribute to the local economy.”
