Team Infinity of Infinity Martial Arts in Middleton, WI Won the Team Demonstrations World Title in Minneapolis MN

On October 9th 2010, Mike Welch and Team Infinity achieved world champion status ranking at the Diamond Nationals Karate Tournament in Minneapolis, MN. After receiving national recognition on ESPN 2 when Team Infinity received 2nd place at the US Open; the World Championship title ensured that Team Infinity attained the highest ranking available in the Team Demonstration Division ending the competitive 2010 season.

Madison, WI, October 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Diamond National Tournament is one of the most prestigious karate tournaments in the United States. Offering cash awards and genuine diamond rings to its grand championship competitors, it is known as “the tournament to win” by those who compete on the NASKA circuit (North American Sport Karate Association). Held in Minneapolis MN, this national tournament not only attracts the best teams and martial artists in sport karate to compete, but it also marks the end of the 2010 competitive tour.

Known for its specialized classes for kids and families, Infinity Martial Arts of Middleton WI has become nationally recognized for its caliber of martial artists, competitors and instructors. In June 2010, I.M.A. traveled to Kentucky for the AKA Grand Nationals - a 5A rated NASKA event. It was at this competition that Team Infinity attained 4th place right next to the top three rated teams in the world. Several weeks following that tournament, they competed at the US Open in Orlando, FL and placed 2nd – thereby defeating some of the best teams in sports karate (as seen on ESPN 2). Since that moment, the team had been focused on achieving one goal - a World Championship Title. Returning home to Wisconsin on October 9th as World Champions certainly exhibited that hard work, determination, and most importantly supporting one another drives success and empowers a team to achieve any set goal.

Stated by Mike Welch, Owner of Infinity Martial Arts, “Upon receiving the ESPN 2 recognition for our performance at the US Open, the team was refueled and energized with so much momentum that we continued to perfect our demonstration. We set the lofty goal to win a world championship and the Diamond National Tournament was our last chance of the year to do so. We spent countless hours each week polishing and rearranging our choreography; pushing past our physical limits to take our skills to the next level. The music had to be timed just perfectly to match exactly to each movement, so we spliced a 45 second song and lengthened it to 3 minutes creating a complete sync to the choreography. I have choreographed hundreds of forms for both individuals and teams, but none have ever turned out this successfully. It really proves that by setting a goal and executing a plan, anything is possible. Most of the members on our team are teenagers or even younger. They have already proven themselves to be elite athletes as well as world class leaders. I am very proud to call them my students as well as my team mates.”
