2010 NTD Television Chinese International Violin Competition

New York, NY, October 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- NTD Television’s 3rd Chinese International Violin Competition will be held in New York City from October 28 – 31, 2010 at the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center. The competition will be televised around the world via satellite, cable, and the Internet. Monetary sums of $5,000, $3000, and $1000 will be awarded to top performers; the first place winner will also receive an exquisite hand-made violin from Su Ding Hsuan, a renowned Asian violinmaker. Required repertoire this year includes pieces from classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Paganini, Mozart, and "Dedu" - a Chinese piece especially commissioned for this year’s competition.

At NTD, they strive to provide traditional Chinese and Western culture to their audience, which is made possible through their programming and various events. In the 2010 violin competition, they anticipate that it will bring a range of wonderful talent, providing a platform for musical dialogue, technical mastery, and creative expression.

Masterclass with Lucie Roberts

On Saturday, October 30th, NTD is proud to announce that Ms. Roberts will conduct a masterclass from 1 PM to 3 PM at The Ann Goodman Recital Hall at Kaufman Center, located at 129 W.67th St. New York, NY 10023. Four contestants will be chosen from the NTD Chinese International Violin Competition to participate in the class. This event is free and open to the public. Limited seating is available on a first come first serve basis.

Violinist Lucie Robert has received enthusiastic praise from audiences and critics alike for the expressive lyricism and tonal beauty of her playing. Ms. Robert has appeared as recitalist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Far East. She has performed over thirty different works as violin soloist with orchestras such as the Montreal Symphony, the Mexico City Philharmonic and the Toronto Symphony. Ms. Robert is currently violin professor at the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes College of Music in New York City.
