Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort Receives Third Consecutive ‘Asean Green Hotel Award’

Multi-award winning 470-room resort on Phuket's southwestern coast receives third consecutive Asean Green Hotel Award for its environment-friendly operations and projects.

Phuket, Thailand, October 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort, on 10 October 2010 was awarded a third consecutive ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award for its “commitment to environmental protection and outstanding efforts in environmental conservation.” The Resort previously received the environmental recognition in 2008 and 2009.

The award was presented by Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports Permanent Secretary Thanittha Savetsila Maneechote to Derek Loke, Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort’s Director of Sales & Marketing, at an event held in Bangkok.

Since its opening in 1987, Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort has continually strived to minimize its impact on the environment with emphasis on waste reduction, efficient energy management, water conservation, and active participation in community green programmes.

These efforts were positively noted when the Resort received a Five Green Leaf Certification from the Board of Environmental Promotion of Tourism Activities (BEFTA) for conducting environmentally friendly operations in 2001 and again in 2003. It also holds a Silver Award from the Green Leaf Foundation and Thai Health Promotion Foundation for 2007 to 2009.
