Halloween Fun at Derby College Broomfield Hall Food Hub

Halloween fun

Derby, United Kingdom, October 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Derby College’s new Food Hub at Broomfield Hall land-based campus in Morley is holding a wide range of fun activities for youngsters throughout half term week (w/c October 25).

Morning and afternoon craft sessions will be held between 10am and 12.30pm and then 1pm to 3.30pm and children can also join in walks through Broomfield’s "haunted" wood, collect items for Autumn collages and enter a spooky quiz.

The activities, which are suitable for any age but all children must be accompanied by an adult are:

Monday, AM: Halloween masks; PM: seed planting.
Tuesday, AM: cake and biscuit decorating; PM: bat mobiles.
Wednesday, AM: grass heads; PM: potato printing
Thursday, AM: cake and biscuit decorating; PM: egg carton bats and spiders.
Friday, AM: grass heads; PM: Halloween masks.
Monday to Wednesday (weather permitting) solar car racing.

The new Food Hub at Broomfield Hall, supported by £299,000 from the Big Lottery’s Local Food scheme, includes a café and shop focusing on local produce and is open every day (Monday to Sunday) between 10am and 4pm.

Head of Broomfield Hall Louise Curd said: “Part of the focus for the Food Hub is to introduce local people to idea concept of growing their own food and the half term activities will be a fun way for families to join in a wide range of activities and hopefully see what else we do and be inspired to try growing things back at home.”
