Royal Oaks Building Group to Join in Nov. 4 Donation of "Hero Home" to Disabled Veteran’s Family

Local Home Builder To Participate In Veteran’s Day Donation Ceremony In Benefit Of Operation: Coming Home II

Raleigh, NC, November 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Rich Van Tassel, president of Royal Oaks Building Group, LLC (http://www.royaloaksbg.com), has announced the completion of the “Hero Home” that is being donated as a part of Operation: Coming Home II (http://www.operationcominghome.com), a joint volunteer project led by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA) and the Triangle Real Estate and Construction Veterans (TREAC-V) that builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans. A key ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4 at the site of the completed “Hero Home” located at 718 Sycamore Springs Drive in the Fuquay-Varina neighborhood of Southern Oaks. The ceremony’s events will begin at 9:30 a.m. and include a band and a collection of military displays. The key ceremony is preceded by a groundbreaking event that took place at the home site in July. The home site is being donated by neighborhood developer Gaines and Company.

Earlier this year, USMC Sgt. Stan Roberts and his wife, Crissy Roberts, were selected to receive the 2010 “Hero Home” on behalf of Operation: Coming Home. A member of the 2nd AAV in Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sgt. Roberts served three tours of duty in Iraq. During his last tour, he was injured by an improvised exploding device (IED) blast into his amphibious assault vehicle (AAV). This blast resulted in the loss of Sgt. Roberts’ right leg, injuries to his right arm and traumatic brain injury. Sgt. Roberts and his wife reside in Cary, N.C., and they plan to move in to the new home following a welcome home celebration on Nov. 4.

Quotes:
“Celebrating this year’s ‘Hero Home’ completion and having the opportunity to once again share the excitement of the key ceremony with the Roberts family and everyone who had a part in the Operation: Coming Home II initiative is a privilege,” said Van Tassel. “We hope that the sacrifice which was made on behalf of Stg. Roberts that is being recognized through Operation: Coming Home II encourages everyone in the Triangle community to find ways to actively support and give thanks to our troops.”
