Athletes are getting ready for the fifth annual Chiang Mai marathon taking place in December this year which will see some of the good runners from the Thai city racing in the event DirectRooms.com can report.

Chiang Mai, Thailand, November 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Runners of all ages and nationalities will be represented in the race, all of which will be competing for the fastest time and to raise much needed funds for local charities and organisations.

Previous runners from the USA, UK, Japan, Australia and Sweden have competed in the event as well as a strong number of runners from Singapore and Malaysia. Each of this year’s participants will be tackling the 42.195km course which starts and finishes at the city’s historical Thapae Gate and winds itself around many other famous landmarks throughout the city.

Visitors staying in hotels in Chiang Mai are welcome to take part or simply watch from the sidelines while the runners race around the course on 26th December 2010.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “Runners of all ages and fitness levels will be taking part in the event and accommodation will be limited as people head to the city for the race. Any competitors or visitors are recommended to book rooms early over this busy period.”
