St. Louis, MO, November 12, 2010 --(PR.com
)-- Three Rivers Systems Inc.’s client roster now boasts the highest-rated community college in New York state and 32 other higher-education institutions coast-to-coast listed in the Washington Monthly 2010 College Guide and Rankings.
Providers of CAMS Enterprise, the only Web-native academic management system built around a single, secure shared database, Three Rivers Systems serves institutions in every major Carnegie Classification.
Members of this “CAMS Community,” as it’s called, singled out in the 2010 college guide include Alaska Pacific University, in Anchorage, Alaska; Aquinas College, in Nashville, Tenn.; Blackburn College, in Carlinville, Ill.; Frank Phillips College, in Borger, Texas; Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.; Missouri Baptist University, in St. Louis; Southwestern Assemblies of God University, in Waxahachie, Texas; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, in Kings Point, N.Y.
CAMS Enterprise user North Country Community College, a unit of the State University of New York with a main campus in Saranac Lake, is New York state’s top-rated and number 22 overall among America’s 50 best community colleges in the Washington Monthly rankings.
In ranking its top 50, Washington Monthly surveyed 650 community colleges nationwide. Its list is compiled with benchmarking data from the Community College Survey of Student Engagement. Ranking categories include learning, student effort, academic challenge, student-faculty interaction, support for learning and four-year graduation rates.
In its community college report, Washington Monthly noted that “the schools stand out in teaching and helping students earn degrees. When it comes to quality of instruction they outperform not only their two-year peers but also many elite four-year research universities.”
Unlike other guides, the iconoclastic Washington, D.C.-based magazine ranks colleges and universities on their contributions to the nation — rating them on their success in educating low-income students, improving the quality of their teaching and giving taxpayers good return on investment.
The guide ranks institutions in five categories: National Universities, Master’s Universities, Baccalaureate Colleges, Liberal Arts Colleges and Community Colleges. University of California campuses — San Diego, Berkeley and Los Angeles — were the top three in the National category, followed by Stanford University and University of Texas, Austin.
These four-year and graduate institutions are rated by numbers of students receiving Pell grants; predicted graduation rates; research expenditures; Bachelor's to Ph.D. ratios; numbers of Peace Corps volunteers; ROTC membership; Federal work-study funds spent on service; community service participation and hours served; service staff; courses and financial aid support.
Amir Tajkarimi, company president and founder of Three Rivers Systems Inc., congratulated the listed schools on their achievements. “We feel a deep sense of pride and satisfaction in seeing our clients honored in this significant way. Our job is to provide them with automated management tools yielding outstanding ROI that allows them to focus their attention on positive student outcomes,” he said. “It’s rewarding to know these schools and our entire CAMS Community of users are leaders in returning investment to the nation.”
