Susan Marx Creates Exquisite Color in the Apex of Transcendence

Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature New Jersey artist, Susan Marx, in the Apex of Transcendence. The exhibition is scheduled to run from November 23, 2010 through December 14, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, December 02, 2010).

New York, NY, November 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Through her masterly handling of both color and form, Susan Marx paints with exquisite fluency. The immediacy and freshness of her vision is a testament to her method – Marx paints en plein air, surrounded by the landscapes, bathed in light, that inspire her. The effects of sunlight transform and intensify the varied hues she so vividly documents. Like the Impressionists and Fauves before her, Marx "draws in color." Each element is intensely considered, the placement and design deftly calculated. These things are second-nature to Marx, whose strong brushstrokes show no signs of hesitation or preciousness. Her works are highly expressive - the impasto strokes twisting and turning - giving the works a palpable tension and electric energy. For Marx, the most important part of painting en plein air is to record her emotional experience of being in the landscape. This imbues her work with the intimacy that so illustrates her personal vision.

Collected and exhibited internationally, Susan Marx currently lives in Orange, New Jersey.
