World Anti-Doping Agency and Web Courseworks Receive International Award for Learning Tool for Training Elite Coaches

Madison, WI, November 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The “CoachTrue” online education toolkit, created by Web Courseworks for the World Anti-Doping Agency, has been designated by the International Academy of the Visual Arts as a Silver Winner in the 2010 Davey Awards. With over 4,000 entries from across the US and around the world, the Davey Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide.

CoachTrue is an online tool designed to educate elite coaches about the legal and medical consequences of banned performance-enhancing substances. It uses a combination of tutorials, realistic first-person branching scenario simulations and game-based learning. For example, one conversation simulation gives coaches a virtual environment in which to practice talking to their athletes about the dangers of doping. WADA also uses Web Courseworks’ CourseStage learning management system to track learners’ progress through CoachTrue. The CoachTrue program has been released globally in English, Spanish, and French.

“The World Anti-Doping Agency’s mission is important, and we were excited to have this opportunity to create engaging and meaningful tools to teach and reinforce this material,” said Jon Aleckson, CEO of Web Courseworks. “We are honored to have received this important recognition.”

The Davey Awards exclusively honor the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small firms, agencies and companies in the world. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock - the sort of thing small firms do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the "Creative Davids" who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller firms, where firms compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve. Please visit www.daveyawards.com for more information.

The Davey Awards is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms. Please visit www.iavisarts.org for a full member list and more information.

The CoachTrue program was launched in June 2010. Web Courseworks has also worked with WADA to expand their online education initiative with the Play True Challenge, an immersive simulation game aimed at young athletes.

The Play True Challenge was launched to great enthusiasm at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August 2010.

WADA is the international independent organization created in 1999 to promote, coordinate, and monitor the fight against doping in sports in all its forms. The Agency’s headquarters are based in Montreal, Canada (www.wada-ama.org).
