ITT Develops Space-Saving Connector Inserts Integrate Signal, Power, Ethernet and Fiber Optic Contacts

New space-saving interconnect reduces weight in mission-critical aviation applications

Santa Ana, CA, November 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has expanded its ARINC 600 Series avionic connector product offering to include next-generation avionic connector inserts that combine signal, power, Ethernet and fiber optic data transmission into a single interconnect. The new models, designated the 30Q2, 13Q2 and 17Q2, are weight and space-saving inserts that can be combined with existing signal, power and quadrax inserts to develop an infinite combination of connector layouts to meet present and future bandwidth requirements.

The ARINC 600 Series 30Q2, 13Q2 and 17Q2 interconnects are deal for many aerospace applications, including instrument landing systems, GPS landing systems, flight navigation systems, avionic common data network systems, integrated surveillance systems and backbone Ethernet network modules.

“To address the need for an increased data transmission rate required by the latest data communications and aircraft landing systems, ITT ICS engineers have designed this new series of robust, compact inserts,” said Keith Teichmann, global marketing director for ITT Interconnect Solutions. “In addition, the three new interconnect inserts reduce component counts, saving space and weight, by integrating signal, power, Ethernet and fiber optic data transmission into a single interconnect.”

The ARINC 600 avionic connector 30Q2 model features 28-signal contacts and 2-quadrax contacts in a single size-1 insert. The advanced connector is available in standard rear-release, rear-removable pin-and-socket versions as well as a front-release, front-removable socket option.

Combining 11-power contacts and 2-quadrax contacts into a single size-2 insert, the standard ITT ICS 13Q2 insert is available in rear-release, rear-removable pin-and-socket versions as well as a front-release, front-removable pin version.

The 17Q2 insert features 3-power, 2-quadrax, 12-fiber optic contacts in a single size-2 insert, plus ARINC 801 1.25mm genderless termini, which are increasingly preferred in new fiber optic systems.

All pin-and-socket versions of the new ITT ICS connector inserts for ARINC 600 avionic connectors are available with a grommet for applications that require environmental sealing.

Anticipated release dates are Q1 2011 for front release inserts and Q2 2011 for rear release inserts.
