netForensics Announces Support for McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator

McAfee security event data integrates with netForensics SIM platform to provide single view of enterprise-wide security events.

netForensics Announces Support for McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator
Edison, NJ, January 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- netForensics, Inc., the pioneer and recognized market leader in Security Information Management (SIM), today announced that customers can now integrate security event data from McAfee’s ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) management platform into its nFX Open Security Platform (nFX OSP). This new agent enables customers to assimilate critical McAfee security data with other vendor security device information to provide a centralized view of an organization’s overall security posture.

nFX OSP is built on an architecture that is specifically designed to integrate and rationalize the massive volume of security events from all sources including McAfee ePO data. Providing a centralized view reduces the impact of security threats by allowing the security team to identify real threats from false positives, pinpoint an attack source, visualize the attack pattern and affected systems, access real-time threat specific information including containment and remediation steps, and respond rapidly, decisively and thoroughly.

“The strength of ePO is in providing a common console from which customers can define, deploy and enforce security policies across the enterprise,” said Rees Johnson, Vice President of Product Management, McAfee. “However, many customers still need to integrate McAfee security event data into a common event management system such as netForensics nFX OSP. Having the ability to offer customers a management solution that pulls all security event data, McAfee and non-McAfee data, into one integrated console is very powerful for a companies looking to consolidate security information. netForensics can clearly do this for our customers.”

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and the products it manages deliver a coordinated, proactive defense against malicious threats and attacks. As the central hub of McAfee’s system security solutions, administrators can keep protection up-to-date, configure and enforce protection policies, proactively mitigate the risk of rogue non-compliant systems, and monitor security status 24x7, from one centralized, enterprise-scalable console.

“Many of our customers have substantial technology investments with McAfee ePO and have asked us to build an agent that allows them to integrate this information into nFX OSP,” said Tracy Hulver, Senior Director of Product Management, netForensics. “nFX OSP transforms EPO and all other information security related data into actionable intelligence, enabling government agencies and enterprises to better respond to security threats, maintain compliant operations, and ensure the continuity of key business processes.”

nFX OSP is strategically positioned in the heart of the security infrastructure to incorporate information from strategic applications and critical compliance-related assets, as well as the perimeter devices that protect them. By providing an open infrastructure to integrate information from all information security technology domains – including disparate network and security devices, production applications and databases, network management systems, vulnerability management, and configuration/patch management systems – nFX OSP creates a foundation for incorporating policy information, correlating asset and device events to identify potential compliance violations, and following a standard incident handling process to mitigate threats to critical compliance-related assets.
