Bob Moore Construction Completes Rooms To Go One Million Square-Foot Distribution Center and Showroom Near Houston, Texas

The nationís #1 furniture retailer celebrated the grand opening of an exciting one million square foot facility in Brookshire, Texas. Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor and MacGregor Associates Architects, Inc. was the architect for this 22.6 acre building, which makes a dramatic statement from its position along Interstate-10 northwest of Houston.

Arlington, TX, June 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- As part of their strategic programmed growth plans, Rooms To Go (Rooms To Go) planned to build a major regional distribution center and show room in the Houston, Texas area. The nation’s #1 furniture retailer celebrated the grand opening of an exciting one million square foot facility in Brookshire, Texas.

Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor and MacGregor Associates Architects, Inc. was the architect for this 22.6 acre building, which makes a dramatic statement from its position along Interstate-10 northwest of Houston.

Bruce Wallick, Senior Construction Manager with Rooms To Go, is pleased with how the project turned out and says he has received excellent feedback on the building. “The size is what was special about this project,” he said, “as well as the schedule.”

The Rooms To Go Super Center provides a space to showcase dozens of room furniture and finishing sets. To support Rooms To Go’s approach of selling complete room solutions the showroom features multiple faux wall segments connected in a matrix of shapes and styles, to create the illusion of single room settings throughout. These walls are crafted in a wide array of shapes and curves, finished with recessed openings, varying paint schemes, wood and metal trim, stainless steel grids and stone cladding. Banks of accent lighting profile room displays around the showroom with large light fixtures providing overall illumination for the interior. The floor is covered with carpeting, luxurious wood panels and tiling to match the different styles of the rooms being featured.

Outside the front entrance to the showroom is Rooms To Go’s trademark yellow arch, a radiused metal structure that spans 88 feet and reaches over 50 feet at the top of the barrel vault. Massive neon lights, called super graphics, illuminate the front of the showroom with art renderings of furniture that are visible from miles away.

The distribution center in Brookshire is the third project Bob Moore Construction has completed for Rooms To Go. In 2004 the general contractor built an 851,000 SF distribution center in Arlington, Texas, and in 2010 they completed a 34,888 SF Rooms To Go Showroom in Fort Worth.

“The RGT Distribution Center in Brookshire was one of the largest construction projects in Texas for 2010,” said Ed McGuire, Vice President of Construction for Bob Moore Construction. “Rooms To Go had a tight schedule for getting this project completed, with a highly promoted grand opening event that was scheduled well in advance. Tilt-up construction played a major role in our ability to meet this schedule, by allowing us to get the building’s shell put up quickly. We were also to bring in the trades at one end of the building to start work even as we stood panels at the other end. This overlapping of phases made the construction process quicker and more efficient. Our superintendent, Stacy Langston, did a tremendous job of managing this massive project and keeping things on track throughout."

"We have appreciated the opportunity to work with Harmon Jones, Bruce Wallick and all the people with Rooms To Go,” added Mr. McGuire. “They are seasoned professionals who understand the construction process extremely well, and their expertise helped to make this project successful from start to finish. Rooms To Go’s design standards for their facilities, particularly their showrooms, allow us to create high quality facilities that are showcases for what we do as well as for their outstanding products.”

Mr. Wallick was pleased with his experience with Bob Moore Construction as well. “I enjoyed working with Ed McGuire and Stacy Langston,” he said. “They were honest and they did what they said they would do.

“Bob Moore Construction is a good general contractor,” Mr. Wallick added. “Bob Moore is a contractor I’d look to call for expansion of our buildings. I can count on them.”

Location

The new Rooms To Go Distribution Center / Super Center is located along I-10 in Brookshire, Texas.
