Top-Tier Tutoring Releases Podcast That Offers Tips for Visiting College Campuses

In his latest podcast, Mike Rivera of Top-Tier Tutoring offers tips for high school students and their parents when they visit a college campus, including scheduling, questions to ask and note taking.

West Orange, NJ, November 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In its latest podcast, Top-Tier Tutoring offers timely advice to high school students and their parents about to embark upon the rite of passage known as “campus visits.” To listen to the podcast, go to www.bit.ly/biHvdS.

During the podcast, co-founder, college counselor and tutor Mike Rivera of Top-Tier Tutoring discusses how to narrow the nearly 4,000 institutions of higher learning in the United States down to a more manageable list of colleges and universities to which a student wants to visit and, eventually, apply. Virtual tours on college websites are discussed as excellent pre-planning tools, but the real barometer should be an actual campus visit. Once a visitation schedule is determined, Rivera counsels contacting each school in order to arrange a campus tour and attend an information session, as well as schedule an interview, if offered. Rivera then provides numerous tips about what to look for and ask about both during the formal tour and while walking around the campus on your own.

“One often overlooked, yet essential, part of a campus visit needs to be photos/video and taking of good notes,” explains Rivera. He continues: “Over time, campuses tend to merge in a student’s memory. Keeping excellent records of the campus visits, both facts and feelings, will aid in the decision-making process down the road.”
