)-- Every once in a while you come across a wonderful example of a Good Samaritan. Heartwarming stories of good neighbors can inspire us to try to become like them. But in today’s busy world, how, specifically, can we show concern for our fellow man and woman? The United Church of God’s new Bible Study Guide lesson “How to Be a Good Neighbor” at www.freebiblestudyguides.org/bible-answers/how-to-be-a-good-neighbor.htm examines some practical tips and encouragement from the Bible about how to make a difference for those around us.
This lesson explores questions such as:
Who specifically is our neighbor?
What can we learn from Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan?
What state of mind is needed to be a good neighbor?
What shouldn’t a good neighbor do?
What does God promise to those who help others?
The lesson includes links to many helpful related resources and provides a practical “Apply Now” section. It was researched and written by Tim Groves, a United Church of God member in Georgia.
This new lesson on loving our neighbors is added to lessons covering a wide variety of topics, from answered prayer to the Great Tribulation, from the armor of God to stress, and from substance abuse to unemployment.
Mike Bennett, UCG editorial content manager, said, “The Bible is a unique book full of inspiration, wisdom and practical answers. But it doesn’t claim to be an easy book. It can be intimidating and overwhelming on first glance. These Bible Study Guides are designed to help. Our authors search the Scriptures with the student in mind, considering what practical answers you need to deal with the real challenges in your life today.”
The site is frequently updated with new material, and so students are encouraged to sign up for the Bible Study Guides e-mail newsletter. E-mail subscribers will receive updates about all the new lessons, as well as other relevant Bible study material. It’s all totally free, and subscribers can cancel anytime they like.
