Former Miami Dolphin, Oronde Gadsden’s First Program Changer as New Westlake AD is to Expand Basketball Program

Westlake Preparatory School's Athletic program has come under the direction of former Miami Dolphin Oronde Gadsden. Coach Gadsden is revamping and expanding the program with an elite international basketball program.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, November 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Oronde Gadsden, former wide-receiver — takes over as the school’s athletic director this month. Always known as a strong basketball school, Westlake Prep, over the past 2 years, has been fostering a special kind of pride by rebuilding and redefining its athletics programs.

It’s a long process, one that began with the formation of a special task force to assess the needs of Griffins varsity teams and culminated in the hiring of athletics director Oronde Gadsden. The school’s Headmaster, Dr. William Pepitone stated that the school’s athletic program is reflects “Our belief that everything Westlake does, should be excellent.”

“We’re going to improve on the solid core of Westlake Prep athletics,” says Gadsden. “It all starts with leadership. The Griffins certainly are on the right track. Under the watchful eye of Head Basketball Coach, Michael Cohen (Wichita State and George Washington University) they kick-off their season on November 26, by playing in the "Court of Dreams" program at the American Airlines NBA Miami Heat Arena, a game the team won last year.
