FKI Logistex Introduces Next-Generation Sorters at Promat 2007

LS-4000E tilt-tray and LS-4000CB cross-belt sorters offer high layout flexibility, reduced installation and commissioning time, and increased energy efficiency to provide lower product life cycle cost (PLCC).

Chapel Hill, NC, January 02, 2007 --(PR.com)-- FKI Logistex® (www.fkilogistex.com), a global leader in integrated material handling solutions, announces the launch of its next-generation sorters — the LS-4000E tilt-tray sorter and the LS-4000CB cross-belt sorter — at ProMat 2007, January 8-11 in Chicago, Illinois. The new sorters offer a common platform that enhances system flexibility, as well as a new state-of-the-art energy system that reduces operating costs.

"FKI Logistex leads the industry in sortation technology innovation," says Stephen Legg, director, product and technology development, FKI Logistex. "Our next-generation sorters increase manufacturing and distribution efficiency and decrease product life cycle cost (PLCC) without costly square-footage expansion or greenfield construction."

State-of-the-Art Energy System
Equipped with an energy-efficient linear synchronous motor (LSM), the FKI Logistex LS-4000E and LS-4000CB reduce the overall PLCC substantially without sacrificing speed, capacity, and reliability. The high-speed LSM eliminates contact between moving parts, leading to low wear-and-tear and low noise levels in the range of normal conversation — 62 dBA maximum for both sorters.

Modular, Space-Saving Design
The smaller, modular design of the LS-4000E and LS-4000CB — featuring low sorter section height and up to 20 feet (6 meters) between supports — optimizes conditions for integrating the sorters into an existing facility. The space-saving design provides extra room above the sorter and on the floor. This extra room can be used for sprinkler systems, conveyors, other sorters, storage containers, and areas for people and vehicles to move through.

The LS-4000E and LS-4000CB sorters are built on the same optimized platform, providing fast and easy installation and commissioning, as well as high reliability and availability. The modular design is based on standardized units that integrate mechanical and electrical components tested in-house before shipping. The common design platform and extra space between the supports gives technicians improved access to sorter parts for straightforward maintenance.

Increased Flexibility
The next-generation LS-4000 sorters increase design versatility by providing full access to multiple floor levels. The sorters feature a frame incline of up to 10 degrees and track level changes up to 23 feet (7 meters) in both straight and curved sections.

The LS-4000E can sort single-tray items measuring up to 39 by 39 inches (1,000 by 1,000 millimeters) and weighing up to 110 pounds (50 kilograms). The LS-4000CB sorter provides precise positioning and gentle handling and can sort items measuring up to 24 by 24 inches (600 by 600 millimeters) and weighing up to 66 pounds (30 kilograms).

The LS-4000E tilt-tray sorter is ideally suited for use in airports and airlines, post and parcel, overnight delivery, and warehouse and distribution facilities. The LS-4000CB cross-belt sorter excels at sorting high-friction and fragile items, enabling it to perform exceptionally well in the overnight delivery and garment industries.

The next-generation LS-4000CB cross-belt and LS-4000E tilt-tray sorters will be on display at the FKI Logistex ProMat 2007 booth (1203/1503). ProMat 2007 takes place January 8-11 in Chicago at McCormick Place.
