Von Moltke to Help Kickoff Unofficial Start of GRAND-AM Season by Test Driving for Mitchum Motorsports and Doran Motorsports
2010 GRAND-AM sensation, Dion von Moltke will be testing both the #77 Doran Racing Ford/Dallara in the Daytona Prototype Class and the #86 Mitchum Motorsports Porsche GT3 Cup in the GT class of the GRAND AM Rolex Series at Homestead Miami Speedway on Dec. 1-2 to unofficially kick off the 2011 racing season.
“I couldn't be more excited to be helping out Doran Racing and Mitchum Motorsports this coming weekend at Homestead,” said Dion von Moltke. It will be nice to be back in Doran's first class team and help him find the best set up on the new Continental Tires. Mitchum Motorsports has given me great support this past year and I really enjoy working with the team. I'm happy they are displaying the confidence in me and my abilities to assist the teams Rolex 24 efforts with their Porsche. I'm excited for the team to be moving up from the Continental Tire Series and can't wait to see their continued progress. I especially want to thank my sponsors PR Newswire and South African Airways who have been behind me the entire way and are responsible for much of my success."
“Dion has a good understanding of the car now having a full season of DP under his belt, so we're expecting he'll be able to give us the feedback we need on the new tires to be ready for the upcoming season,” said Kevin Doran of Doran Racing. “He's a great communicator and know he'll be an asset in getting the other guys up to pace quickly."
Von Moltke has competed successfully now in every level of GRAND AM racing, including last season’s three wins in the Continental Tire Challenge Series. The skills he showed on track this year is one of the reasons why he is becoming one of the most sought after drivers in the racing world. Assisting both Mitchum and Doran in the testing of their highly regarded #77 Doran Racing Ford/Dallara in the Daytona Prototype Class and the #86 Mitchum Motorsports Porsche GT3 Cup shows the esteem the racing world holds von Motlke.
"We are excited to work with Dion again. The level of professionalism and raw speed that he brings to the table is a real asset to maximize our testing objectives this coming week," said Chris Mitchum of Mitchum Racing.
