Ben from Derby College Has Got Talent

Derby, United Kingdom, December 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Derby College Performing Arts Student Ben Thompson has clinched a contract with Derby Live that will see him performing on stage at Derby’s pantomime this Christmas alongside its star Neil Morrissey.

Ben (20), who lives in Spondon, has been hired as a stage manager for the Aladdin run at the Assembly Rooms, an understudy for the male characters in the show as well as supporting roles as a ghost and the magic carpet.

He has also had a call up for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions on his one day off during the panto season – December 13 which, he says, must be fate.

Ben’s fortunes changed when he reached the finals of Derby Live’s Fame Factor with his Michael Jackson tribute act with a comedy twist.

“Although I didn’t win Fame Factor, I obviously made an impression and was over the moon when I got a call from Derby Live about the pantomime. I was then contacted by ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ who said the only time I could audition was December 13 which is my only day off in December so that really must be fate.

“Derby College has been really supportive and I have been working really hard to get all my assignments done so that I can take December off to concentrate on my work with the pantomime.

“I am determined to make it back to do the Joseph Wright Centre Christmas show at the end of term as I wouldn’t want to miss that.

“I love performing and can’t wait to meet the stars in the pantomime and work alongside them in the show which should be brilliant.

“I hope to go far in the Britain’s Got Talent and, after I finish College next summer I want to take a year out and then go to University to learn more about performing arts.

“I’m feeling really positive about my career and I hope that this will be my big break.”
