Visions In Education Charter School was honored to win its second award as Best Independent Study School, and an additional delightful surprise was that Visions teacher Tatyana Lazukova won Teacher of the Year for her support of students in the Sacramento area Russian community.

Sacramento, CA, December 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- At their lavish annual The Best by Russian-speaking Community Ceremony awards ceremony, on November 4th, Visions In Education Charter School was honored to win its second award as Best Independent Study School. An additional and delightful surprise was that Visions teacher Tatyana Lazukova won Teacher of the Year for her support of students in the local Russian community. With Tatyana, in attendance at the ceremony were Visions staff Saideh Malekafzali, Nina Anderson, Helen Muller, Pamela Rodig-Kirschke, Joanna LaSalle, Helen Li, and Aleksey Sharipov.

Sergey Ivannikov, CEO of Russian American Media, Inc. shared with guests that the event is held to show their appreciation to the most successful business people and leaders in their community. The affair was held in Rancho Cordova, a suburb of Sacramento, and dignitaries included Rancho Cordova Mayor Ken Cooley, and City Manager Ted Gaebler.

Course after course of wonderful Russian food and wine was served to guests throughout the evening. Entertainment featured a wonderful array of the many ethnicities that are identified as Russian, beginning with young people dancing a traditional Ukrainian folk dance in brightly colored costumes. Additionally, there were many talented Russian singers from the northern California region, including the amazing George Komsky, who was America’s Got Talent’s winner for Best Tenor of 2010. Interspersed throughout the evening, glamorous contestants in the Miss Russian California 2011 pageant impressed the judges and guests with gown competitions, dances, and interviews. Several of the young ladies have come to California within the last few years to pursue the American Dream, but are working through the bittersweet experience of having left their families behind.
