Gay Rights Advocate Promotes Monogamy and Family Values with Meet Gay Professionals.com

The 2010 era is more gay-friendly than ever before and some gay rights advocates are pushing to bring family values to their community. "Family values isn't exclusively for heterosexuals," says Christopher Lewis founder of Meet Gay Professionals.com. "I believe in family values, our families just look different."

Tehachapi, CA, December 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The 2000-2011 era has been dubbed the Gay 2000s by many advocates, due to a welcoming spirit that has celebrated gay culture, created gay superstars in Hollywood, and embraced gay career professionals as they fearlessly climb the ladder.

Gallup polls are showing that the mainstream population is more gay-friendly now than they have ever been in the past. Sources such as The Atlantic and the official Gallup website have quoted promising statistics showing that over 57% of the population is okay with being gay and over 62% of the population of young Americans consider homosexual relationships acceptable. Even the controversial same sex marriage issue is showing optimistic poll results in America: the nation is now evenly split with 49% supporting gay marriage and opposition on a downward slope ever since the late 1980s.

With the mainstream acceptance of gays and lesbians so also has come an increase in those coming out and forming gay and lesbian relationships. Now that five states allow same sex marriage and many more allow civil unions some gay rights advocates are stressing the importance of stable and monogamous gay and lesbian relationships.

Christopher Lewis, a licensed physician assistant and the founder of Meet Gay Professionals.com, can relate to the problems gay professionals have finding someone to spend the rest of their lives with. Lewis stresses that there are too many gay men looking for sexual encounters or short term dating and that this fosters the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and other public health concerns.

He believes the problem is caused by generations of gay men being told they weren't allowed to grow up and live happily ever after in stable marriages. "Even worse," he says, "many gays turn to online websites to meet other men and this further exacerbates the promiscuity problem. Many gay internet sites feature nothing but half naked men or solicitations for casual sex."

Featured in the LA Times in 2008, Lewis is quick to share his own story of how he met his husband online and moved to California to live happily ever after as a married couple. “I remember how hard it was to find the right guy but then I saw Cody’s profile on MySpace and he had my favorite song on his profile. Right then I knew I wanted to get to know him better.” They have been together for four years and Lewis says “we couldn’t be happier or more in love.” They now live in a quaint southern California town about two hours northeast of Los Angeles with their two dogs Molly and Shorty.

Lewis says the problem is that its hard for gay professionals to find respectable places to meet. "I guess you could call me a traditional kind of guy. I grew up in the South and Midwest and I value family, commitment, and monogamy as much as anyone else." For that reason, Christopher Lewis started Meet Gay Professionals.com, a new and respectable online establishment with the goal of promoting monogamous and long lasting gay relationships. "I came from a divorced household, my best friends are getting divorced, and some people just laugh at the thought of getting married. But then I look at how happy I am being married and it makes me want to share how amazing a stable and lasting monogamous relationship is for gay people too."

Based on his personal experiences, entrepreneurial background and communication skills, Lewis believes that Meet Gay Professionals.com has what it takes to bring gay men together to form long lasting and monogamous unions. He hopes that more websites will rise above the low standards of free dating sites and focus more on providing a forum for gay men to find the right person and live happily ever after.
