Burlesque Legend Satan's Angel Signs with Ephemera Bound

Fargo, ND, January 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Satan's Angel, The Devil's Own Mistress, was a legend on the burlesque circuit.  Her signature dance was setting fire to the tassels on her breasts, butt, and navel and twirling faster and faster until her spinning created enough wind to blow out the flames. To date, no one has repeated this act.

Her stilettos first hit the stage in 1961, and in the early 60's she was performing at renowned burlesque clubs including Minsky's and Corio's.  She's performed across Europe and the Far East, South America, Canada and Greenland. She has been featured in dozens of pinup magazines, as well as Time and Life, and appeared on the Johnny Carson and Steve Allen shows.  Satan's Angel traveled with the Bob Hope USO show in Vietnam, sang in an all-girl topless band and starred in the feature-length science fiction B-movie, "Shortcut to Terror."   

Walker now lives in Las Vegas, but still is performing.  One of the most recognized names on the international burlesque scene, Satan's Angel still draws a crowd.  She's performed at Miss Exotic World, Tease-O-Rama, and most recently in Chicago in "Gurlesque Burlesque" with Margaret Cho.  She is featured in "Tease: The Art and The Heart of Burlesque," a behind-the-scenes documentary about the women of burlesque striptease, along with stars such as, Dita Von Teese, Dixie Evans, Tempest Storm, Catherine D'Lish, Selene Luna, and Michelle "Toots" L'Amour.  She also promotes and performs in a touring play based on her life, called "Have Tassels, Will Travel."

Open about her sexual orientation, Walker plans to include her experiences as a lesbian and a performer.  "I always knew I was lesbian, but life and peer pressure made it very hard to be gay.  But I was a ballsy broad - you think I cared if nobody liked it?  Hell no!  I figured, 'Hey, I did my job and my personal life was my own.'  I was brazen and very open about it -- to the point where I lost many a job because I was a lesbian.  It hurt me financially too.  But I would picket the clubs, talk to the press, bad rap the bad clubs when I was on the road; I did everything in my power to try and change the point of view about gay performers.  I helped to pave the way for GLTB performers," said Walker.

With her book the performer hopes to shed some light on burlesque and its many personalities.

"It's funny, since I started talking about this book, there has never been any doubt in my mind of how I wanted it to be.  Not the same old, 'I grew up a poor child' lines.  None of that for me!  I want to pay tribute & homage to those ladies who seldom received the mention or acclaim for their contribution and dedication -- to at least make sure their names are remembered once again as the Stars that they were.  Women like Kitty Lynne, Denise Montego, Amber Mist, Venus the Goddess of Love, Kiva, and Marinka, the list is a long one..." said Walker.  "I'm thankful for the opportunity with Ephemera Bound to tell my story my way," she continued.
