This holiday season give your kids a gift that is both fun and educational-the gift of rock. The nationally acclaimed music program School of Rock is offering for the first time a four-day Winter Break Camp from Dec. 27-30 for kids ages 9 and up with some musical experience.

This holiday season give your kids a gift that is both fun and educational-the gift of rock! The nationally acclaimed music program School of Rock is offering for the first time a four-day Winter Break Camp from Dec. 27-30 at participating locations nationwide. The camp provides an accelerated version of the core School of Rock program. It’s also an opportunity for kids with hectic schedules during the academic year to participate. The camps have a 5 to 1 teacher-student ratio, and are recommended and designed for kids ages 9 and up with some musical experience. True beginners should check out the Rock 101 program to get started.
The camp will run for six hours a day from 10:00am to 3:00pm and students will be immersed in improving their knowledge of the basic instruments of rock-guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals-and putting their skills to work on up to ten songs selected from a catalogue of legendary rock artists: ACDC, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones / Sex Pistols / The Clash, Nirvana, The Who, Black Sabbath / Metallica, David Bowie / Glam, The Beatles, Iron Maiden / Judas Priest, and The Rolling Stones. Each “camper” will also receive a list of the musical items they will need to bring (guitars, no amps, ear plugs, etc.). The students will audition for various “bands,” learn a select list of songs from specific artists and rehearse the songs throughout the four day period, ultimately performing together on stage at the school.
