BrightCom Customers Gain Greater Telepresence Value from New Aberdeen Research

New Aberdeen Group survey research includes BrightCom and other video conferencing vendors, reporting on how businesses gain value from their telepresence deployments and not just save money from travel costs.

Huntington Beach, CA, December 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Recently, Aberdeen Research published a new report entitled, “Telepresence and the Video Frontier” demonstrating how companies gain business value from telepresence based on several key metrics including travel cost reduction, quantitative return on investment and associated revenue. BrightCom, the performance leader in integrated telepresence and videoconferencing, was included in the survey’s analysis of telepresence deployments and utilization. This report allowed BrightCom customers to provide feedback on their use of Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing solutions within their operations and business processes.

Having the opportunity to speak with the Aberdeen Group, Bob McCandless, CEO of BrightCom, agrees with the survey’s intent to show the greater value proposition of telepresence.

Mr. McCandless believes that there is a significant need for emphasis on the benefits that businesses can gain from telepresence in addition to cost savings from travel and being a ‘green’ operation.

He states, “There are many calculator’s and commercials showing how telepresence and video conferencing can easily save a business in travel costs and resources, and they are correct. However rather than focusing on this one benefit of video for business, I believe it is more important to show what a business can gain rather than save in order to demonstrate the technology’s complete potential and ultimately prove its long-term viability.”

The Aberdeen report is compiled from over 100 participants that have purchased systems from multiple vendors including Cisco/Tandberg, BrightCom, Vidyo and Polycom. It studies the top business pressures for telepresence deployments, actions taken by businesses and the general value proposition based on their capabilities, resources and utilization of the technology. The study looks at several areas of potential benefits gained including efficiencies in business processes and improvements in learning and development.

Mr. McCandless continued, “Many BrightCom customers have initially deployed telepresence and video conferencing solutions because of a geographical distance between facilities and/or employees. But as their utilization increases, they begin to understand how well they can integrate video and data conferencing into their daily processes for operations including product development, sales training or even customer profit centers. This then enables them to gain a larger return on investment and see a larger potential for this technology.”
