In-Home Pet Hospice Comes to Northeast Ohio

Chagrin Falls, OH, December 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Rainbow Bridge Pet Hospice and Senior Care is offering professional in-home services to regions in Northeast Ohio. Based in Chagrin Falls, the mobile pet hospice will treat elderly and frail four-legged patients in eastern Cleveland suburbs, Geauga, Lake, Portage and Summit counties. During a veterinary house call, the pet can be examined, diagnosed, and treated. Rainbow Bridge also provides pharmaceuticals and vaccinations. If an emergency arises, the pet’s guardian can page a veterinary and a callback can be expected within minutes.

Services of Rainbow Bridge Pet Hospice and Senior Care are provided right from the client’s home, where both the pet and the guardian feel more comfortable. The philosophy of pet hospice care is to provide and facilitate care for geriatric and terminally ill animals; offering palliative care and pain relief as an alternative to suffering, premature euthanasia, or time spent away from the family while in intensive care. Guardians do not have to transport their pets to and from the clinic, which allows the family to spend more precious quality time at home with their pet. Treating sick or frail animals at home also prevents them from getting car sick and alleviates the anxiety of traveling to the veterinary hospital. Additionally, diagnosis can be easier since the veterinarian can observe the pet in their own environment.

Final life decisions can be made with the utmost compassion. Rather than spending final moments with a beloved pet in a sterile veterinary examining room, the guardian and family members can stay with the pet and comfort one another in the familiarity and warmth of their own homes. The guardian does not even have to worry about a final resting place for his or her pet. Rainbow Bridge will arrange for burial or cremation based on the guardian’s wishes.

Rainbow Bridge Pet Hospice and Senior Care is a subsidiary of Mobile Veterinary Care (MVC). Founded in 1993 by Dr. Sharmyn Clark, MVC originally started for pet guardians who were disabled or elderly, but the clientele quickly expanded to include anyone who wants in-home veterinary services. MVC is ideal for persons who are home bound or who do not have time to take their pets to a veterinary clinic and sit in the waiting room. When they are examined, canine and feline patients also are less anxious being in a familiar home setting versus being taken into a clinic.
