F1000 Posters: Over 100 Conferences Now Included

London, United Kingdom, December 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- F1000 Posters has grown rapidly since its launch in June 2010 and now incorporates some posters from over 100 national and international conferences, including submissions from many of the world’s largest scientific meetings.

F1000 Posters (http://f1000posters.com) is a new open access repository of posters from across biology and medicine. Deposited posters will be reviewed by Faculty of 1000’s world-renowned Faculty who select posters that they consider to be particularly interesting and important, and write evaluations for inclusion in the award-winning F1000 evaluation service.

An ever-expanding list of top journals including Nature-titled journals, Elsevier, PNAS, BMJ, PLoS journals, BMC journals, SAGE journals, and a long list of individual titles have shown their support for this new repository, confirming that deposition in F1000 Posters would not be treated as prior publication. A full list of journal responses is available at http://f1000posters.com/journalresponses.

F1000 Posters has been developed to increase exposure for presenters following conference presentation. All those who were unable to see the posters or attend the meeting can still view the presented work and provide feedback and ideas. F1000 Posters provides a free central site where users can search all posters relevant to their work, irrespective of the conference where the work was originally presented.

Commenting on the service, Rebecca Lawrence, who heads up F1000 Posters said: “F1000 Posters is something really new that no-one else is doing and there is a lot of excitement among presenters and societies alike, as can be seen by its rapid growth.” She continued: “The current loss of vast quantities of novel information presented in posters, either until published (months or even years later), or sometimes forever, is a terrible waste of finite resources such as time, effort and money.”
