Patricia Arnillas Displays the Passionate Work at Agora Gallery

Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Peruvian artist, Patricia Arnillas, in Enigmatic Realms. The exhibition is scheduled to run from January 11, 2011 through February 1, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, January 13, 2011).

Chelsea, NY, January 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Patricia Arnillas draws from ancient myth and classic text to extract the essence of tragedy, death and human foible. Enamored with the story of the Fall of Icarus – the Greek boy who recklessly flies near the sun only to plunge into the ocean when his wings melt - Arnillas often returns to this archetype in her paintings as a symbol of what is reckless, active and eternal. At times warm and passionate, elsewhere icy, crisp and light, her paintings in oil, acrylic, gold leaf and charcoal ring out at the viewer like a stoic and dolorous eulogy. Mirific in quality and tender in message, Arnillas’ soft, expertly blended imagery evokes a sense of hope, holiness, and perseverance.

Born in Lima, Peru, Patricia Arnillas studied Fine Arts at the Catolica University of Peru and received her B.A. in Art History and Media from Hunter College. An artist, illustrator and interior designer she resides in New York and is the creative director of Contraposto Art Studio, a decorative painting firm. Her artwork has been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows.
