PaperG and Wishpond Partner to Include Local Product Availability in Display Ads

San Francisco, CA, December 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PaperG and Wishpond today announced that they have partnered to integrate Wishpond's local product data into PaperG's automatically-created local display ads. This partnership enables PaperG to display locally available products and product sellers within dynamic display ads built using its PlaceLocal ad platform. At the same time, this partnership showcases how Wishpond's product data, available via their open API, can be used by partners. By partnering together, the two companies recognize the influence that online advertising has on consumer purchases made offline, which total over a trillion dollars according to Forrester Research.

PaperG and Wishpond's new partnership reflects how today's consumers are making purchasing decisions. While many businesses view their online and offline businesses as separate sales channels, consumers do not make that distinction. Instead, they browse both online and offline before making a purchasing decision, which means that local product sellers need to market themselves via both channels. Online display advertising already enables local advertisers to target their message to a given geographic market, but such locally-targeted ads can improve campaign performance further, according to industry research, by incorporating even a little local relevancy to message.

"The next natural evolution of local display advertising is to show what stores and products are available within driving distance of the consumer. Ad units that allow consumers to find information on local product availability can dramatically improve the offline conversion rates of shoppers," said Victor Wong, CEO of PaperG.

For example, a national electronics retailer could now make use of this partnership to auto-generate online display ads that highlight the highest rated flat screen televisions currently on sale in a store location nearby the targeted user.

For many of the largest US advertisers, the majority of sales occur offline rather than online – e-commerce is still only 4% of total retail spending, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. However, online advertising hasn't yet reflected this phenomenon and has historically focused on promoting e-commerce rather than activity at physical storefronts.

Ali Tajsekander, CEO of Wishpond, noted, "Large brands that sell locally need to distribute their product availability as far and wide as possible. Consumers enjoy the immediate gratification that buying locally provides as well at the instantaneous information that researching online allows. Anything that combines the two is a win for both consumers and brands. By leveraging Wishpond's open platform to showcase the availability of local products in PlaceLocal ads, PaperG extends the power of their online advertising to drive in-store sales."

PlaceLocal, launched by PaperG in 2010, has been used to auto-generate thousands of online display ad campaigns that utilize local data in new and interesting ways.
