Cory "Checkmate" Robison’s Jan 7th Strikeforce MMA Opponent Pulls Out - New Opponent to Be Announced

Nashville, TN, December 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Although word reached team Robison this week that Cory’s Jan 7th Strikeforce opponent pulled out, training camp will continue as usual with the expectation of a replacement opponent to be announced any day.

Frizzell first established a name for himself as a former Golden Gloves Boxing Champion winning several titles over a ten year career and now finds himself utilizing what he’s learned in the past to help Cory “Checkmate” Robison take his MMA game to the next level by joining team Robison’s coaching team as his Striking/ Boxing Coach.

In addition to being a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt, Tennessee resident, Cory Robison is the Head Instructor for the Lil’ Rhinos Jiu-Jitsu Program at TBJJA (Tennessee Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy) located in Spring Hill, TN and trains out of Ed Clay's Nashville MMA gym. He has lived, trained, competed, and won in Brazil, and "Checkmate" shows no signs of slowing down. Robison is a World Champion, being one of only eight Americans to win at the Mundials, the most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the world. They are hosted annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. He’s competed in just about every national and international tournament circuit and currently holds several titles including, the 2010 WKA Bantamweight World MMA Championship, the 2009 World BJJ Championship, the 2009 Pan-American BJJ Championship, the 2009 European BJJ Championship, the 2008 Brazilian National Championship, the Mr. Grappling 155lb Light Weight Championship, the Mr. Grappling Absolute Championship and two time C.A.G.E. Fighter Absolute Championship. He’s achieved an undefeated MMA record and earned a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship all before the age of 22.

The Strikeforce MMA Woodley vs. Saffiedine fight will be Friday, January 7th at Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The fights will also be televised live on Showtime at10pm ET/PT.
