TV4U Celebrates 50th Anniversary of the TVS Television Network in 2011

Founded in 1961, the TVS Television Network is the fourth oldest commercial TV network in the USA. It’s history includes a historic role in the growth of college basketball on television and includes coverage of the NCAA Basketball Tournament in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Henderson, NV, January 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- TV4U, the 48 channel IPTV video portal, is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of their TVS Television Network. TVS, founded by Chicago White Sox owner Eddie Einhorn in 1961, currently produces and distributes 33 "micro channels" that are distributed worldwide via TV4U.

In 1961, Mr. Einhorn expanded his production of college basketball games from radio to television, establishing TVS Sports (TVS) as an independent TV network. Over the next decade, he became the driving force in the growth of the sport of college basketball through his broadcasting of weekend college basketball games.

In 1968, TVS televised the iconic Houston vs. UCLA basketball game from the Astrodome in prime time. This game was credited with catapulting the college game to national TV prominence.

After starting in basketball, Mr. Einhorn expanded to other sports for TVS. He televised football bowl games like the Astro Bluebonnet Bowl, professional tennis such as the Alan King Tennis in Las Vegas, and even auto racing.

He became an international player in the television business when he televised the World University Games in 1973 from the USSR. His ultimate triumph was televising the first team competition between the USA and China I 1973, personally heading a skeleton crew to China to broadcast the USA vs. China in basketball.

After Mr. Einhorn sold TVS to the Cornithian Broadcasting Company to become the head of CBS Sports, the network passed through several hands before being acquired by Tom Ficara in 1990.

Mr. Ficara restructured TVS as a home video producer and produced more than 250 home videos, mostly from the TVS library in the 1990’s. In 2005, TVS was merged into Margate Entertainment LLC, an independent stand alone audio, video, and text content company owned by Ficara and former Caesars Entertainment Director Charry Kennedy and relocated to Henderson, Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas.

Since 2005, the TVS Television Network has resumed producing and distributing television programming to broadcast stations and cable networks. TVS has also established 33 IPTV "micro channels" on the TV4U.Com video portal including TVS Sports.Com; TVS Crimetime.Com; TVS Port O Call.Com; TVS Comedy.Com; TVS Boxing.Net, and TVS Western.Com The TVS micro channels are seen in more than 160 countries.

TVS has also established a full service TVS Home Video division. It is currently contracted with Amazon.Com for the production and distribution of the TVS Television Network library.

Mr. Ficara’s 21st year as the head of TVS includes the establishment of a "mini pay per view" service that will offer regular pay per view boxing, MMA, and other events for $9.95 per event.

TV4U.Com and the TVS Television Network are owned by Margate Entertainment LLC, a Henderson, Nevada based independent stand alone audio, video, and text content provider.
