TattooedAxe.com Launches a New Look for a New Line of Handcrafted Cigar Box Guitars

TattooedAxe.com rolls out a new line of cigar box guitars. These guitars incorporate edgy, one-of-a-kind, hand painted urban designs making each cigar box guitar a distinctive piece of musical art.

Phoenix, AZ, January 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Tattooed Axe, located in Phoenix, Arizona designs and builds funky handcrafted guitars. Constructed from re-purposed, recycled, and up-cycled materials these guitars are not overly fussy. Each one is purposely designed so that no two instruments look or sound alike. Once the final construction is complete every guitar is tattooed with its own signature piece of hand painted artwork.

Merging Mexican folk art with an urban attitude these guitars are built to be played but also to be admired for their artwork and place in history. The new line will also include hand painted cigar box guitars with a tilt toward a more crude or unrefined early skateboard graphics look and feel.

Gary Reyes, owner of Tattooexedaxe.com said that the company will continue to produce its line of traditional handmade cigar box guitars for the cigar box guitar purest. Some consider the cigar box itself a piece of art as many have elaborate designs and are constructed of beautiful wood that’s put together like a fine piece of furniture.

Both the traditional and the new line of cigar box guitars come in 4-string and 6-string models and can also be played like a slide guitar if the player chooses. And it doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced guitar player or a novice just starting out - the ease of these guitars playability makes the instrument a good choice for art collectors as well as musicians.

As both a musician and artist Gary Reyes has long been obsessed with creating music and visual art. Gary said he has always been drawn to minimalistic music so when he happened upon the cigar box guitar it seemed only natural to explore it further.

Gary went on to say, “You have to remember that in the beginning a stick, a box and even as little as one string could emit a sound and that sound is what’s at the very root of true American music. The desire to make music combined with a lack of any means to acquire a professionally made instrument spawned an era of “do-it-yourself” guitars that has lasted well over a hundred years. I’m as amazed today as I was the first time I heard a cigar box guitar played. The rich sound these little cigar box guitars can produce is just unbelievable.”
