Texas Self Storage Association Reaches 10 Years of Supporting the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston

Round Rock, TX, January 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Texas Self Storage Association (TSSA) raised $20,802 for the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston. To-date, TSSA has raised $249,600 for the hospital. This year marked the tenth year that the Association has raised funds through various events held during their annual convention. TSSA Fundraiser Committee Chairman Doug Hunt stated, “This has been a hard year for everybody, and while I had hoped we would hit the quarter million dollar donation mark in the total amount raised, we’re well within striking distance. We’ll do our best to continue to support this great organization that treats critically burned children without charge to the families.”

Donor relations representative Jim Smith accepted the donation from Executive Director Ginny Sutton at the Association’s offices in Round Rock. The money was raised through a variety of activities held during the Association’s annual convention, including both live and silent auctions, and a charity poker tournament.

In recent years, TSSA member facilities have also raised funds through their “Make a Difference” campaign. TSSA member facilities solicit $1 donations from their customers, placing their name on a Starfish. The starfish symbolizes how one person can make a difference in another’s life, and shows that every effort, regardless of how small, can indeed make a positive impact. Taking part in the campaign in 2010 were: Allen Mini Storage (Port Arthur); Amazing Spaces (Houston, Spring & The Woodlands); Brenham Self Storage (Brenham); Diamond Self Storage (Pearland); Longhorn Road Storage (Saginaw); Storage Choice (Dallas); Storageland (Arlington); and White Rock Self Storage (Dallas).

The Fundraising Committee is already making plans for the next campaign, which will culminate at the Association’s annual convention on October 16 – 18, 2011 in Austin. The Association will celebrate its 25th Anniversary and looks forward to a well-attended event to help commemorate the occasion.

The Texas Self Storage Association was established in 1986 and is a non-profit trade association dedicated to enhancing the quality of the self-storage industry in Texas. The Association provides opportunities for members to increase their knowledge of the self-storage industry through education, research, discussion and exchange of information.
