Available Soon: House Divided, Provocative Second Novel by Raul Ramos y Sanchez

Available from Grand Central Publishing January 28, 2011, “House Divided” is the second novel by award-winning author Raul Ramos y Sanchez.

San Diego, CA, January 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In the sequel to the critically-acclaimed America Libre, Raul Ramos y Sanchez gives us House Divided, the continuing saga of ex-GI Manolo Suarez, a man struggling to keep his family intact in a near-future U.S. torn by a violent ethnic conflict. It is a conflict whose causes lie in the headlines of today.

“I wrote America Libre and House Divided as a wakeup call to the dangers the U.S. faces as the debate over illegal immigration becomes increasingly hostile,” said the author. “The middle ground between Latinos and the mainstream is growing smaller every day. Arizona’s SB 1070 is supported by a majority of Non-Hispanic Whites. Among Latinos, it is overwhelming opposed.”

Ramos insists the vitriol being heaped on Hispanic immigrants today is little different than the experiences of previous immigrant groups—but with a significant difference. “No other immigrant group to the U.S. could ever say their ancestors once owned parts of U.S. soil. These are the same seeds for conflict that have erupted in other parts of the world, like the ethnic clashes in the Balkans, the Chechen uprisings in Russia, the Basques in Spain and the Tamils in Sri Lanka,” said the author.

Why did he choose such a nightmare scenario to make his point? “I’ve put blood on the streets in a work of fiction in hopes of avoiding that nightmare in real life,” Ramos explained.

The launch of House Divided currently includes two book signings and a series of media appearances in California and Ohio. More events are in the works.

About Raul Ramos y Sanchez:
Cuban-born Raul Ramos y Sanchez grew up in Miami’s cultural stew before becoming a long-time resident of the U.S. Midwest. After a successful career in advertising that included founding an ad agency with offices in Ohio and California, Ramos turned to more personally significant work. This began with developing a documentary for public television, Two Americas: The Legacy of our Hemisphere and also creating MyIimmigrationStory.com — an online forum for the U.S. immigrant community.

Ramos began his debut novel America Libre in 2004, with the input of scholars from Latin America, Spain, and the United States. After five months as a self-published edition, America Libre, was acquired by Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books). A revised version of the novel by Grand Central Publishing was released in July 2009. House Divided, the sequel to America Libre is scheduled for release January 28, 2011. The author and his work have been featured on television, radio and print publications across the country along with a host of online media sources.
