Readers can explore this interesting and true life story of a schizophrenic from a normal childhood to the events that led to her illness. The author describes the trials and tribulations that a schizophrenic must endure throughout her lifetime and her readers will learn to recognize and understand some of the unusual behavior of these individuals who suffer from this chronic illness. Having the perspective of a schizophrenic will bring any readers a new aspect for coping with relationships involving family and friends.

While lying on a hospital bed during the birth of her first child, the author could hear a voice whispering, “Breathe, Bobbie, breathe!” Suddenly, she awoke from death. She threw off the bed sheet covering her head and desperately gasped for air. She had died for a few moments.

Her illness, however, was not discovered until five years later and that is when her dark journey began. On a cold January night, the wind was blowing and Bobbie began to experience whispering voices. When she looked out the window, she saw the dark figure of a man walking along the tree line, and suddenly there was a presence on the roof of her brother’s house and she heard the devil’s voice proclaiming that he was going to take her son.

“Oh, hell no!” she replied. “You will take me instead!”

About the author:

Mr. Clarey is a student at the university currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in psychology. After nineteen years of observing his wife’s schizophrenic behavior, he decided to share her story with others in the hope that it would help those that are not only schizophrenics, but also assist their family and friends with recognizing some of the characteristics of schizophrenia. At forty-eight he has an interest in psychology, meditation and music, and he is a part-time artist. He also has discovered that with love and understanding, a life with a schizophrenic is not only possible, but quite rewarding.
