Morristown, NJ, January 26, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Shade Tree Garage was recently recognized as one of New Jersey’s original “Green Automotive Repair Facilities” at a January 19th luncheon of the NJ Coalition of Automotive Retailers (NJCAR). Presenting the certificate to John O’Connor, owner of Shade Tree Garage, was Alex Yankaskas and Wayne Staub of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
The NJ Green Automotive Repair Program is a partnership between the NJCAR, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers, and the NJDEP. The purpose of the program is to establish criteria for certifying automotive repair facilities in “green” practices. In April of 2009, Shade Tree Garage was included in the first group of several automotive repair shops and dealerships to receive the “green” certifications.
According to O’Connor, “All automotive repair shops must meet certain environmental standards mandated by the government. As a 'green' automotive repair facility, Shade Tree Garage has being taking additional measures to protect the environment, save resources, and keep New Jersey clean. We are honored to receive recognition for our efforts in this area.”
Shade Tree Garage has been an environmentally-friendly shop, even before it became the “in” thing to do. In fact, they have been helping New Jersey drivers comply with the stricter emission requirements for many years now. As a State-certified Emissions Repair Facility Shade Tree Garage is one of a few that owns a dynamometer - the machine used to test car emissions.
