Metal-Era's 2011 Schedule of AIA & RCI Continuing Education Courses

Metal-Era's popular continuing education program will continue into 2011. The two courses are available as free, monthly webinars.

Waukesha, WI, January 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Metal-Era, Inc., the national leader in commercial roof edge and roof ventilation solutions, announces their popular continuing education program will be continued into 2011. Metal-Era’s partnerships with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI) allow design professionals to receive continuing education credit.

Metal-Era’s continuing education offerings consist of two programs: Understanding ANSI/SPRI ES-1 and Principles of Commercial Roof Ventilation.

Understanding ANSI/SPRI ES-1 covers wind uplift issues related to the roof edge. Program content includes:

-Previous wind design standards
-The need for ANSI/SPRI ES-1 standard
-ES-1 standard and key components
-Calculation of wind design pressure

Principles of Commercial Roof Ventilation focuses on the unique demands of roof ventilation for commercial buildings. Program content includes:

-The principles involved in properly ventilating a roof system
-Additional, unique needs of commercial buildings compared to residential buildings
-The role net free area (NFA) plays in commercial ventilation

“For over 10 years, the Understanding ASNSI/SPRI ES-1 course has been popular with architects and roof consultants,” says Tony Mallinger, Chief Operations Officer. “As we’re entering our fourth year providing the Principles of Commercial Roof Ventilation program, interest has increased rapidly. Commercial ventilation is a topic that hasn’t been well addressed in the past, creating confusion in the industry. We’re pleased to provide clear and sound guidelines for design professionals.”

Metal-Era’s continuing education programs are available in the form of monthly webinars (online seminars). Understanding ANSI/SPRI ES-1 is offered on the second Thursday of every month at 10:30 am central time. Principles of Commercial Ventilation is offered on the fourth Thursday of every month at 10:30 am central time. Additional presentations (either face-to-face or webinar) are available upon request. There is no charge for the program.

Both programs offer one AIA continuing education unit, one AIA health, safety and welfare credit and one RCI continuing education hour.
