The Mentoring Magic Award Winners: Sara Meier and Dr. Diane Todd Bucci

Pittsburgh, PA, January 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In 500 words or less, Sara Meier, a student at Robert Morris University, successfully explained why she felt that her mentor deserved to win the "Mentoring Magic Award" during January National Mentoring Month 2011. Chosen by small panel of experts from a selection of entries that came in from predominately the east coast through the mentoringmagic.net website, Sara’s story of mentorship was chosen based on her touching responses to the following questions:

* Who is your mentor/mentee?
* What are the person’s positive qualities?
* How has the relationship impacted you and your future success?

The following is an excerpt from her essay, “Dr. Diane Todd Bucci is a professor who has definitely changed my life through inspiring me to become a better person in the classroom, both in the workplace, and in my personal life. She has told me that I can do anything that my heart desires and that my mind can imagine. She has shaped me as a person whether she realizes it or not, and I am grateful to have her as a mentor and lifelong friend. My relationship with Diane has definitely increased my self-esteem. She has said that I’m a passionate woman that could help save the world and solve some of society’s problems. When those words come from such a role model as Diane, I feel like it really could come true: I could save one million trees from being burnt in the rainforest or cause one million people to start recycling. She makes me believe that I can and do make a difference in other people’s lives, and I have finally realized I’ve helped change lives throughout my college years."

The story met the qualifications that the judges were looking for in the winning entry as it clearly explained their relationship, the mentee relationship was not comprised of family members, and it demonstrated strong writing skills. The winners will receive a lovely dinner so they can dine together. Both were honored with a plaque of appreciation and a signed book at the Penguin Bookshop Book Release Party for “Mentoring Magic: Pick the Card for Your Success” by Drs. Shellie Hipsky and Claudia Armani-Bavaro on January 28th in Sewickely, PA.
