The Medal Play Golf Tour Hosts First Arizona Event at ASU Karsten

The Medal Play Golf Tour played their first ever event in Arizona at ASU Karsten in Tempe on Sunday. “It was good to get the first event in,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “The field was light, but the players that showed up had a great time and it was nice to showcase to Arizona golfers what we have to offer. In fact we had the Tour’s first ever hole in one today.”

Tempe, AZ, February 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour played their first ever event in Arizona at ASU Karsten in Tempe on Sunday. “It was good to get the first event in,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “The field was light, but the players that showed up had a great time and it was nice to showcase to Arizona golfers what we have to offer. In fact we had the Tour’s first ever hole in one today.”

The highlight of the day was in the Senior Silver Division where member Jerry Boysen aced the 157 yard 6th hole for his career 3rd hole in one. The ace propelled Boysen to a 1 under par 69 (par 70) and the victory. Luther Sander was the runner up after a scorecard playoff with Mike Pavlik and Sandy Gourlay after all 3 posted net 73’s on the day.

Doc Watts of the Senior Championship Division started his season on a good note as he also posted a 1 under par 69 to outlast Tim Lutz. Todd Ringsmuth took the winners circle in the Championship Division.

John Saager posted a net 75 for a 7 shot victory in the Senior Gold Division.

The tour returns to action on February 20th at Ocotillo GC in Chandler, AZ. The next event is also a Media Day event where interested players can play the event before deciding to join the tour.
