Home-Tech Celebrates 30 Years of Service to Southwest Florida

Thirty years later, Home-Tech is the largest employee-owned air conditioning appliance service and sales organization in Southwest Florida, with more than 120 employees, two office locations and a service team that operates in five counties, from Naples to Bradenton.

Fort Myers, FL, February 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- It began with one man, one van and a small office in a home in San Carlos Park. Thirty years later, Home-Tech is the largest employee-owned air conditioning appliance service and sales organization in Southwest Florida, with more than 120 employees, two office locations and a service team that operates in five counties, from Naples to Bradenton.

Steve Marino began Home-Tech in 1981, and he remains the company’s driving force today, serving as president and chairman of the board. Although Home-Tech focuses on service, the company also offers air conditioning installation and appliances in Southwest Florida. Most popular with its customers is Home-Tech’s Gold service agreement, providing free service calls, parts and labor on covered major appliances and air conditioners.

“At Home-Tech, it’s all about service,” Marino said. “We service air conditioning, major appliances, plumbing and electrical. The employee-owners of Home-Tech are intensely focused on being a resource for residents of Southwest Florida who need convenient, affordable and hassle-free repair and replacement services for air-conditioning systems and major appliances.”

Following its small beginnings in 1981, Marino allowed the business to grow at its own pace. In 1983, he hired his first employee and moved into an office. In 1985, mindful of the need for properly trained employees, Marino began a training class for employees. He expanded south into Collier County and then, in 1992, began providing service in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Today, the company operates out of a 52,000 square foot office and training facility in Fort Myers, and a smaller office near Lakewood Ranch that serves the company’s Sarasota and Bradenton customers.

Recognizing that workers who have a stake in the business are more motivated, in 1996, Marino turned Home-Tech into an employee-owned operation. Since that time, the company has more than tripled in size.

“We are extremely proud of the way in which Home-Tech has grown and diversified over the past three decades,” Marino added. “We’ve become innovators in the industry, providing comprehensive training and continuing education for our employees. We’ve built a family at Home-Tech. The average length of employment at Home-Tech is 11-years. We have several married couples who work here, and employees have recruited some of their family members to work here as well.”
