Free Online SNOMED Browser Introduces New UK Extensions

Brighton, United Kingdom, February 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dataline Software - an award winning manufacturer of healthcare software - is today launching the UK Edition of its free online SNOMED Browser at www.snoflake.co.uk.

Since its launch in 2006, the website has included international data - but in a continued mission to raise awareness of the benefits that SNOMED can bring to UK healthcare systems, Dataline has now added the 63,214 additional concepts specific to the United Kingdom.

Adrian Bleach, Managing Director of Dataline sees this improvement as a "must-have" for the site, saying "In order for the site to be truly useful to the UK health sector, support for the UK Extensions is essential."

As well as introducing the UK Extensions, the website has also been enhanced to include:

1. The ability to search using the beginning of words rather than whole words only
2. A quicker weighting algorithm that sorts results by relevance
3. Subsets, which reduce the SNOMED dataset to specific clinical subsets
4. SnAPI: Dataline’s interface for integrating SNOMED into existing healthcare applications

As well as keeping up-to-date with the latest versions of SNOMED datasets from the IHTSDO, Dataline continues to add new features to its portfolio of SNOMED products. In the coming year, Dataline will be launching another new version of the SNOMED Browser with support for cross-maps, which enable mapping between ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD-0 and OPCS code sets. Ancestor matching and subsumption testing will also be included in this release.

As awareness of SNOMED increases globally, so too does the popularity of the site. Try the online version for yourself by visiting www.snoflake.co.uk, or alternatively download Snomobile - the mobile SNOMED solution for the iPhone (http://www.itunes.com/apps/snomobile).
