Delray Beach, FL, February 16, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency recognized two outstanding projects completed under the Curb Appeal Residential Improvement Program in a special awards presentation on February 10, 2011. Awards were presented to the homeowners at the beginning of the regular CRA meeting held in the City Commission Chambers.
One project approved during the 2009/2010 fiscal year was selected in each of the award categories, Most Improved and Best Maintained. Each homeowner received a certificate of recognition, a copy of the new Delray GreenMarket cookbook, Tastes of the Season, and a cultural arts experience package from the Old School Square Cultural Arts Center, including four passes to the Cornell Museum of Art & American Culture, and a pair of tickets to a cabaret performance at the Crest Theatre.
The Curb Appeal program offers single-family homes up to $10,000 toward the cost of exterior improvements such as landscaping and irrigation, driveway repair, painting, mailboxes and house numbers. The annual awards help illustrate how minor improvements can result in dramatic transformations that help improve the overall look of a neighborhood.
The grant program is available in the Northwest and Southwest Neighborhoods of the CRA District, and is administered by the city’s Community Improvement Department through its Neighborhood Services Division. Eight homes were assisted last fiscal year, and at least 16 projects have been completed since the program’s inception in 2007.
