North Carolina Community Sailing & Rowing Hires Rowing Director to Energize Rowing on Lake Norman

Bridget Blair to coach rowing North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing in Cornelius, NC a suburb of Charlotte, NC.

Cornelius, NC, February 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- As part of the continued expansion of rowing programs on Lake Norman, North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing has hired Bridget Blair as the new Director of Rowing. Bridget comes from Atlanta, GA where she is a coach for the St. Andrew Rowing Club. Bridget will be working with the youth and adult programs already in place at NCCSR.

The youth program is open to new and experienced rowers ages 12 and up and rows at the Lake Norman YMCA Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from March 7 to May 21st. Bridget will run the youth program along with the current youth coach, Chris Berl, President of Restroom Direct, which sells commercial restroom fixtures, including hand dryers. http://www.restroomdirect.com

“Bridget brings with her a vast experience building and running rowing programs. She’s going to really energize our young program,” says Larry Vitez, Chairman of the NCCSR board. Bridget has 25 years coaching experience and is a certified USRowing instructor. She has coached junior, collegiate and masters rowers. Among other accomplishments, Bridget’s juniors have made it to the Grand Finals in three Junior National Rowing Championships.

“I see rowing as a life-long sport that can make a big difference in many lives,” say Ms. Blair. “I am especially focused on sculling as a basis for all rowing.” (Sculling is rowing in which each participant holds two oars instead of one.)

North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing is a non-profit profit program based out of Blythe Landing in Cornelius. Rowing and sailing programs take place both at Blythe Landing and the Lake Norman YMCA in Cornelius.
