Dortmund, Germany, February 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH offers products that are setting global standards for modern electrical interconnection and automation technology. So for the relaunch of its global website and intranet, the successful mid-sized company is choosing a future-proof path: a choice for the content management system (CMS) FirstSpirit from e-Spirit AG (www.e-Spirit.com). The CMS will act as a central content platform for new standards of system performance, user-friendliness, and content reuse. WAGO will benefit from greater efficiency in global content management and lower costs, for example through simpler integration of international editors, lower training costs, and greater system agility.

Specific localization concepts

WAGO markets its products and solutions across the globe. The website is thus an important and integral component of the WAGO philosophy, which is based on providing optimal customer service. The website as the company's global figurehead is thus available in 36 language and country versions. In addition, employees in the local markets can choose their own specific localization concept. This allows them to tailor the site to local needs in their country version, including different language versions (e.g., in Switzerland) – and thus respond to market requirements with greater agility. This means having a content management system that meets the most advanced requirements for architecture, performance, and efficiency, requirements that the previous .NET-based solution was unable to meet.

In an extensive selection process with eight systems participating, FirstSpirit emerged as the clear favorite. The strong points of the CMS were its outstanding user-friendliness, both at the front end and back end, support for open standards such as Java, excellent connection options of the existing translation platform or intranet, via standard interfaces for example, as well as the system architecture and high system performance. Support for content reuse on a full variety of output channels, such as newsletters, was another crucial factor. And finally, WAGO was also impressed in the areas of documentation and support, as well as the product roadmap and the coherent development strategy at e-Spirit.

Adapting to the needs of the future

"One of our main concerns in relaunching our websites and intranet is that we address changing internal and external requirements in recent years while at the same time adapting the content structure of the site, its appearance and technical components to the future needs of the users," notes Bettina Drewes, team manager for Internet/intranet at WAGO. "That is why we place the greatest value on ensuring the future security and performance of our system while simultaneously maintaining maximum user friendliness and efficiency. By using a high-performance CMS, we're able to adapt our content to our users, add new media, and at the same time simplify editing, thereby saving on costs." The implementation of the content management system, the intranet migration, and the relaunch of the German language version should be completed by July 2011. The international sites will then go live by July 2012.
