)-- Fairfield, Iowa based Hip-Hop band, Purple Asteroid Cadillac announced today the launch of their independent record label, We Run Entertainment LLC and the signing of an exclusive worldwide distribution deal through JMD Records/Ingrooves/Universal Music Group. After all of the hard work Purple Asteroid Cadillac has put in over the past year and four months, this deal came about after a music scout of Mike Thompson's, Vice President of A&R at JMD Records, sent him a link to Purple Asteroid Cadillac's music profile on unsignedhype.com.
“Had a chance to hear the tunes online. Materials pretty solid... Looking forward to receiving the rest of the content and working with your team.”- Mike Thompson - VP of A&R JMD Records
“Purple Asteroid Cadillac, also known as Tha P.A.C., is like nothing you’ve ever heard before. Bringing forth a self-proclaimed fusion of “Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, Rock and Neo Soul,” the gentlemen of Purple Asteroid Cadillac succeed in doing something not a lot of current music acts accomplish; creating a fresh, previously unheard stream of music.”- Brittany Newton – Detours Magazine Online
Purple Asteroid Cadillac began their journey June, 2009, after Fooch, the lead vocalist, met up with a friend who had studied jazz and blues in college and had previous experience playing bass. This friend, SHZA agreed to combine talents with Fooch to start the band. Jason (Swan) was discovered playing guitar in a Fairfield coffee shop and quickly signed on as the band’s lead guitarist. Zack (Big Worm), the final piece, is native to Seattle, but joined Purple Asteroid Cadillac after drumming with many touring bands but declaring Tha P.A.C. the “first truly original act” he has found.
Purple Asteroid Cadillac will be releasing their new EP on JMD Records/INgrooves/Universal Music Group in late Spring/early Summer 2011. Tha P.A.C also have a lot shows under their belt and have opened for big names like Warren G, Kidz in the Hall, and Scrach Track to name a few. With their first single “Shine On” still getting attention from local and campus radio stations and a recent stamp of approval from Def Jam Recordings VP of A&R, Lenny Santiago, according to manager Dave Ballew; "The P.A.C. has the potential to be the next big name out of Iowa."
