Tampa Digital Provides Live Web Stream of Dogs Flying High in Central Florida

Tampa, FL, February 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- BarkNetwork.com, the Worldwide Home for Athletic Dogs, is presenting a live video stream showcasing the 2011 Flying Disc Challenge/Ashley Whippet Invitational [AWI] World Qualifier hosted by the Central Florida Dog and Disc Club [CFDDC]. Dogs and their handlers will compete during this annual event Saturday, February 19, 2011, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL, just east of Lakeland.

More than 40 of the top disc dogs in the country are expected to compete during the classic event. All of the teams will have a shot at qualifying for the AWI World Championships held later this year in early October at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, MO, near St. Louis.

Qualifier registration for athletic disc dogs and trainers begins at 7:30 AM this Saturday. The competition will commence at 9AM. The live video stream begins at noon. The stream is being sponsored by Purina and produced by Tampa Digital and Carson International.

“We are excited to provide a live video stream this Saturday to cover the event for both BarkNetwork.com and the Central Florida Dog and Disc Club,” said Jim Kopcik, producer, Tampa Digital. “This is a great opportunity for people around the world that are not able to attend and experience a major disc dog competition to watch it live this Saturday at BarkNetwork.com.”

The Central Florida Dog and Disc Club is scheduling a variety of competitions, such as Freestyle Flying Disc, where dogs and handlers will go through a two-minute, choreographed routine set to selected music. The participating canines will be judged on creativity, drive and athleticism, as well as the sequence of flow and catch ratio. Additionally, the Throw and Catch event is organized so that dog/handler teams test their skills in distance and accuracy.

“We’re a group of canine enthusiasts who share one thing in common: we all love to throw a piece of plastic to our dogs,” said Gary Duke, event organizer, 2011 Flying Disc Challenge/AWI World Qualifier.

During 2011, nine Open Qualifiers will be held throughout the United States; meanwhile, two qualifiers will be held in Asia and eight others in Europe.

This weekend’s Flying Disc Challenge and AWI World Qualifier is the first in a series of live web stream athletic dog events that can be seen at BarkNetwork.com during 2011. Others include the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge and Show Dog Championship Series.

A Bit of Canine Frisbee History
Canine Frisbee has been around since at least the mid -1970’s, and has become increasingly popular throughout Florida during the past several years. The goal of the Central Florida Dog and Disc Club is to help people and their dogs to discover the fun of canine flying disc sports and to promote and perpetuate this enjoyable and fascinating activity. The club provides canine disc enthusiasts in the Central Florida region an opportunity to meet and to play Frisbee with their dogs in both a recreational and competitive environment. By doing so, they are sharing their love of dogs and taking pleasure in the friendships made along the way through this wonderful activity. For more information about CFDDC, visit cfdiscdogs.com.
