)-- Cullen Walsh, a 13 year old Sparta resident who plays the Guitar, was recently awarded the Player of the Month Award by Bill Wright’s Guitar Studio in Sparta NJ. Cullen received a signed certificate, a copy of which was placed on the wall at the studio, an Arpeggio Finder book and a set of guitar strings.
Cullen has studying the guitar for almost 6 years now and according to his instructor, Bill Wright, has made some really significant progress. Cullen has completed the entire Hal Leonard Guitar Method program which consists of a series of 9 instruction books. He has performed with his instructor on a number of occasions including a Christmas Concert and for taco night at the Andover Presbyterian Church to a packed house. Cullen plays both the Acoustic and Electric guitar and is an accomplished sight reader. Cullens instructor remarked; "Lately we've been doing a lot of Bluegrass fiddle tunes and some Bach inventions which must be played in the higher more difficult positions on the guitar". Cullen intends to participate in the studios Acoustic Ensemble Group to further his playing skills.
About the award, studio owner Bill Wright said, “The Player of the Month award is a program designed to reward our students for their hard work and enthusiasm. Each month or so, one of our instructors will select a student to receive the honor.
